Calling Compliance
Last Updated: February 23, 2026
Renting phone numbers through AgroIQX for calling and messaging is subject to regulatory compliance requirements mandated by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). Only India-registered businesses can rent Indian phone numbers, and all users must complete KYC (Know Your Customer) verification before a number can be activated. This page explains the complete compliance process and the documents you will need.
Why Compliance Is Required
Indian phone numbers are regulated resources governed by TRAI and the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). Before a number can be assigned, regulatory bodies require KYC verification to ensure the number is used legitimately. This verification process protects against fraud, spam, and misuse of telecommunications infrastructure. AgroIQX must comply with these regulations before activating any Indian phone number for use on the platform.
Who Can Rent a Number
- India-Registered Businesses Only: Only businesses registered in India with valid GST registration can rent Indian phone numbers through AgroIQX.
- Authorized Representative: An authorized representative of the business must complete the KYC process on behalf of the company.
- Number Types Available: Local and mobile numbers are available for rent. Requirements may differ slightly based on the number type and telecom circle (region).
The Compliance Process
The process for renting an Indian phone number follows these steps:
- Search for a Number: Browse available Indian phone numbers by type and telecom circle through your AgroIQX workspace.
- Review KYC Requirements: Understand what documents and information are needed for the selected number type and region before proceeding.
- Submit KYC Documents: Upload all necessary documentation through the platform. Ensure documents are clear, legible, and issued by Indian authorities.
- Application Review: Your submission is reviewed by the regulatory body and our telephony partners. This typically takes 3–7 business days.
- Activation: Once approved, the phone number is activated and ready to use for calls and messaging on the platform.

All KYC documents must be issued by Indian authorities. The following documents are required to complete the compliance process:

After submitting your KYC application, it will move through the following statuses:
- Draft: Your application has been started but not yet submitted for review.
- Pending: Your application has been submitted and is awaiting review.
- Approved: Your documents have been verified and the phone number is ready for activation.
- Rejected: Your application has been declined. You will receive feedback on what needs to be corrected and can resubmit.
- More Info Required: Additional documents or clarifications are needed before the review can proceed. Check your application for specific instructions.
Approval Timeframes
KYC verification for Indian phone numbers typically takes 3–7 business days. Complex cases or requests for additional information may extend this timeline. To avoid delays, ensure all documents are clear, complete, unexpired, and consistent with the information provided in your application. Once approved, a single KYC application can be linked to multiple phone numbers of the same type within the same telecom circle.
Common Rejection Reasons
Applications are most commonly rejected for the following reasons. Reviewing this list before submitting can help you avoid delays:
- Document Quality Issues: Blurry or unreadable images, cropped or incomplete documents, screenshots instead of scans, or low-resolution uploads.
- Non-Indian Documents: KYC documents must be issued by Indian authorities. Documents from other countries will not be accepted.
- Information Mismatches: Name on documents does not match account details, address does not correspond to the selected telecom circle, or business name variations across submissions.
- Expired Documents: Identity documents or address proof that have passed their expiry date. Utility bills and bank statements must be within 3 months.
- Missing GST Certificate: GST registration is mandatory for renting Indian phone numbers. Applications without a valid GST certificate will be rejected.
- Incomplete Submissions: Missing required documents, mandatory fields left blank, or authorization letter not provided for the signatory.
Data Security
All KYC documents submitted for compliance are encrypted and stored securely in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and applicable Indian data protection regulations. Your personal and business information is used solely for the purpose of regulatory verification and is not shared with third parties beyond what is required by TRAI and DoT.
